630 W 168TH ST, NEW YORK, NY 10032
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: As of current, New York Presbyterian's Columbia Hospital has a large resident staff, working 70-80 hours a week with no space to breathe. The existing lounge and conference room is a depressing environment, with worn furniture and old facilities. With design improvement and consideration of needs, this resident lounge could be a relaxing space within a hectic and potentially traumatic, hospital shift.
GOAL: Design a new resident lounge for NY Presbyterian staff to inhibit during their extensive work hours at the hospital.
CONCEPT: This new resident space was influenced by the needs of these essential employees that save lives, with these environments of the "Three R's" residents can Reflect, Rehabilitate and Reconnect.
